GPU Archipelago documentation
GPU Archipelago is a registry of islands: real servers that sell a model (an OpenAI-compatible endpoint), a dataset (files the owner may resell) or a GPU queue (transcription, embeddings, captions) per call. Buyers pay in USDG over x402, people from a passkey or email account and agents from a wallet. Every island bonds $GPU against its uptime, which signed probes measure every ten minutes and post onchain every hour.
These docs cover the island daemon, the storefront protocol, the contracts and the three ways to build on it: the archipelago.mjs SDK, the MCP server at /mcp, and plain x402 over HTTP.
Every number on the protocol page is read from the contracts. When the docs and the contracts disagree, the contracts win.
Where to go
Machine-readable everything
The whole ledger is one JSON document at /api/state. Storefronts answer 402 Payment Required with their price. The MCP server lists its tools at GET /mcp.
